Rob Parker Rips Fan Who Didn't Give Albert Pujols Back His 2,000th RBI Ball

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim v Detroit Tigers
Rob Parker: “Ely Hydes should be ashamed of himself. Do the right thing for Albert Pujols… I’m sorry, I do believe that ball should have gone to Pujols. That’s a big moment and only four other guys in the history of baseball have ever had 2,000 RBIs. He should have that baseball in his personal collection because it means so much to him. All the other fans have always given in and made a trade and I just think this is really selfish. THAT BALL BELONGS TO ALBERT PUJOLS. What are you doing?? The guy who caught Derek Jeter’s 3,000th hit, which was a home run too, was thrilled to meet Jeter one-on-one and get some merchandise from Jeter. That’s what a REAL FAN would do.” (Full Audio at Bottom of Page)

Listen to Rob Parker rip the Detroit Tigers fan who refused to give Los Angeles Angels slugger Albert Pujols back his 2,000th RBI ball.

Pujols joined Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, Alex Rodriguez, and Cap Anson as the only players in MLB history with over 2,000 RBIs when he hit a solo shot versus the Tigers at Comerica Park on May 9th, 2019

The fan who caught the home run ball was 33-year-old, Ely Hydes, who refused to give the ball up when asked by Pujols after the game if he would trade the ball for a meeting with Albert and signed memorabilia.

Hydes said ‘I don’t care about money’ and ‘It’s folklore, I love it’, saying he was turning down all lucrative offers for the iconic baseball.

On Tuesday it was revealed that Hydes had donated the ball to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York in the name of his late son Cyrus, who had passed away after only 21 months because of a rare infection.

Check out the audio below as Parker details why the ball should have been given back to Pujols from the very beginning.
