Syracuse Basketball Coach Involved In Fatal Car Accident

Head coach Jim Boeheim of the Syracuse Orange

Syracuse men's basketball coach Jim Boeheim was involved in a fatal car accident on a highway in upstate New York. Boeheim was driving home on Interstate 690 when he struck 51-year-old Jorge Jimenez, who had stepped out of his car following an unrelated accident.

Jimenez had lost control of his vehicle on the icy highway and struck the guardrail before coming to a stop in the middle of the road. He was standing on the side of the highway when Boeheim swerved to avoid the car and struck Jimenez.

He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said that neither driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol and that no traffic citations were issued as a result of the deadly crash.
